Orient boss Alberto Cavasin admitted the O’s need to find solutions, and fast after today’s 6-0 FA Cup First Round defeat at League One side Sheffield United.

A second half hat-trick for Harry Chapman, plus goals from Chris Basham, Stefan Scougall and Kieron Freeman sealed the defeat for the O’s to dump them out of the cup at the first round stage.

Speaking after the game, Cavasin admitted the performance from the squad was unacceptable.

“It was a negative performance. We conceded four goals from set pieces and that isn’t good enough,” he told

“When we concede a goal the squad crumbles at the moment and that is happening far too often. We didn’t react to those goals and were bullied by Sheffield United who took advantage of that.”

While the match still goalless Ollie Palmer saw an opportunity kept out by the Blades defence, but having conceded the opener, Cavasin was unhappy that there was no reaction from his side.

“The first big chance of the game went to us with Ollie, but after conceding the first goal we fell apart and were unable to create any further opportunities which is also extremely disappointing,” he added.

Cavasin and the players were kept in the dressing room for some time after the game, and the Italian admitted things had to be said, and knows things have to improve quickly.

“We spent a lot of time in the changing room afterwards discussing the situation amongst ourselves. Everyone is aware how it is at this moment in time and everyone is unhappy with the performances,” he remarked.

“We have to give more as a group to help get ourselves out of the situation that we find ourselves in. We need to find solutions and fast because there has to be a vast improvement.

“The supporters have the right to be disappointed and for the performance that over 300 fans witnessed, I can only apologise.”
