O’s boss Alberto Cavasin admits he needs a response from his side tonight against Exeter City.
Orient lost out 2-1 at home to Blackpool at the weekend and while disappointed with that defeat, he feels the team have the perfect opportunity to put things right this evening against the Grecians at the Matchroom Stadium.
“It is the perfect opportunity to respond having lost out at home on Saturday,” Cavasin told leytonorient.com.
“The players and staff all want to right the wrongs of the weekend’s result and having been in training on Sunday and Monday, we are keen to get back to winning ways.”
Paul Tisdale’s Exeter City may come into the game propping up the table, but all five of their wins in the league this season have come on the road and with that in mind Cavasin knows the challenge that lies in wait for his side this evening.
“Exeter are a side who have struggled at home, but have beaten some good teams away from home so we have to be wary of what we are coming up against tonight,” he added.
The O’s fell 2-0 down at the weekend against the Seasiders, but Cavasin was at least pleased they ended the game on a positive note when substitute Paul McCallum pulled one back, though it proved in vain.
“Everyone is aware we have lost far too many home games this season and that has to change,” he remarked.
“We cannot seem to make the most of our opportunities and we are being punished for our mistakes up the other end which was evident on Saturday.
“We kept going until the end, but we didn’t do enough to pick up at least a point.
“We have to continue to work hard. The table is still very close with only eight points between Exeter at the bottom and Blackpool in the final play-off place so that shows that if we are able to get things right then we can still achieve a lot this season.”
