PREVIEW: Leyton Orient v Crawley Town

access_time 5 years ago

Andy Edwards will be hoping to start the festive fixtures with a home win over Crawley Town on Boxing Day.

Last time out the O’s lost 1-0 at Wycombe Wanderers as striker Scott Kashket came back to haunt his former club with the only goal of the game.

Crawley come into the game with back-to-back league wins over Crewe Alexandra (2-0) and Newport County (3-1).

The Newport win came courtesy of goals from James Collins, Josh Yowerth and former O Jimmy Smith in a bad-tempered affair which saw 13 yellow cards handed out.

Prior to that the Red Devils had lost 5-0 at Yeovil Town, but have picked up three wins on the road this season at Exeter City (1-0), Morecambe (3-2) and Crewe (2-0) as they currently find themselves in 11th spot in League Two.

Defender Callum Kennedy and midfielder Michael Collins will be hoping to feature in this Boxing Day clash with Crawley.

Kennedy was stretchered off in the O’s 1-0 loss at Wycombe Wanderers last weekend with a groin injury, but scans revelaed the injury was not as bad as first feared.

Collins missed out after picking up an ankle injury coming off the team coach at Adams Park, but is another who is optimistic of featuring on Monday.

Striker Ollie Palmer remains a doubt with a dead leg, while Harry Cornick remains back at parent club AFC Bournemouth. Midfielder Liam Kelly is progressing well in his recovery from a torn hamstring.

BETTING (correct at the time of writing)

The O’s are 11/10 favourites to take all three points in the Boxing Day encounter with Crawley Town. The Red Devils are 12/5 to come away with a victory while the draw can be back at 5/2.

Orient defeated Accrington Stanley 1-0 in their last home encounter and are 7/1 to replicate that, with Jay Simpson and Ollie Palmer are 9/2 to break the deadlock.

James Collins netted the opener in Crawley’s 3-1 win over Newport County last weekend and is 5/1 to do the same once again.
