Midfielder Michael Collins underlined the importance of producing strong performances at the Matchroom Stadium following the O’s 3-2 Boxing Day victory over Crawley Town.
A fantastic first half display saw Andy Edwards side go into the break 3-0 to the good thanks to a goal from 17-year-old Sam Dalby on his full debut and a Paul McCallum brace, and Collins was pleased to give the fans something back following a frustrating few months in E10.
Crawley responded strongly following the restart however, pulling goals back through a Teddy Mezague own goal and Enzio Boldewijn’s strike with just over 20 minutes remaining, but Orient were able to hold on for the victory much to the delight of Collins.
With not much time to rest over the festive period, the 30-year-old is now looking for the team to follow up with another positive result against Cambridge United on December 31, highlighting that the Crawley victory will show for very little if the O’s are not able to build on it.
The former Huddersfield man also reflects on his short time at the club so far having arrived at the end of October, and discusses his contract situation with his current deal set to expire in the coming weeks.
