Leyton Orient and the Leyton Orient Trust have teamed up with MAN v FAT to launch a new 15-week football league to help men lose weight.
The MAN v FAT Football scheme has featured on BBC’s The One Show and has even been the focus of a programme on Brazilian national television.
In a number of leagues across the country, over 93 per cent of players have lost weight and some players have lost up to 70lbs during the 15-week league.
The league is being offered to men with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 27.5 or over and you can find out your BMI by visiting https://manvfat.com/football.
Uniquely, the MAN v FAT Football League is decided not just on points won, but pounds lost. It is suitable for men of any fitness level and there are even non-playing roles available, meaning that men of any size can get involved and get healthier. As well as regular football, every player also receives free resources, inspiration and 24/7 support to help them lose weight and get fitter via MANVFAT.com.
The league starts on January 25, 2017 and you don’t have to be an O’s fan to get involved! The league will run Wednesdays between 7pm and 9pm at The Score Centre on Oliver Road, Leyton.
Doug, 37, was one of the first participants to sign up to the league and said: “I’m a massive football fan but I had not played as part of a team or league for about 15 years until last year when I discovered manvfat and signed up straight away. I played at shoreditch last year as part of a team named heinz57 we all had different levels of fitness, footballing experience, ages & weight/health issues.
“Over the 14 weeks I lost a total of 12kg losing weight consistently for 12 weeks reaching my 5 and 10% weight loss goals until I picked up an injury outside of football which slowed down my gym side of my training. My team topped the weight loss league for the season which I was most proud of.
“Using the forums and the WhatsApp team group I found and shared some great tips for both diet & exercise to encourage my team-mates as and when we needed it. I have switched to Leyton due to work commitments and I’m really looking forward to this season as I look to lose the weight I have regained over Xmas since my last season finished. I’m looking forward to meeting a new team to build up a great plan for this year’s weight loss target!”
Andrew Shanahan, Managing Director of MAN v FAT said: “I set up MAN v FAT when I lost over 70lbs and discovered just how little help there is out there for men who want to lose weight, so we are thrilled to bring MAN v FAT Football to Leyton Orient.
“We’ve already had a brilliant reaction to the idea and if you’re interested in playing then get in fast as places always go fast in every league we’ve run. I’d urge any guys who fancy winning their battle against fat to give it a try – the only thing they have to lose is weight!”
Please note that spaces on the leagues are limited and you don’t have to be a team to play, 99 per cent of those who sign up to the leagues are individuals just looking to play football and beat fat! Register now at www.manvfat.com/football
