PREVIEW: Leyton Orient v Morecambe

access_time 5 years ago

The O’s will be hoping to get back to winning ways when hosting Morecambe in a vital League Two encounter.

Last time out the O’s lost 2-1 to Portsmouth with Conor Chaplin netting once in each half, after Gavin Massey had levelled matters with a stunning strike from just outside the box.

Orient moved up a spot in the table despite the result, with Accrington Stanley’s result seeing the O’s finish the weekend in 20th spot.

Morecambe come into the game six points and three positions better off than the O’s, having picked up a 1-1 draw at Carlisle United last weekend.

Aaron Wildig gave the Shrimps the lead, but their victory hopes took a knock when defender Dean Winnard was sent off after picking up his second yellow card and Carlisle responded when Charlie Wyke levelled within seconds, but the visitors held on to take a valuable point.

They have yet to taste defeat in 2017 having started the year with a goalless draw against Crewe before a 4-1 win over Notts County.

Morecambe have picked up 18 of their 31 points on the road this season, with five wins and three draws from 12 trips, with victories at Yeovil Town, Accrington Stanley, Cambridge United, Notts County and Mansfield Town.
