The club can confirm that Academy Manager Richard Thomas has left the O’s following six years of service in E10.
Having helped nurture a number of talented young footballers during his time with the club, Richard has played a key role in a number of Academy prospects signing professional contracts and making the step up to the first-team.
Under his guidance this season, the O’s youth team secured the South East Youth Alliance Division title before Christmas, as well as embarking on a fantastic run in the FA Youth Cup which saw the under-18s emphatically defeat Southend United and Poole Town before eventually losing out to Premier League champions Leicester City in the Third Round.
Speaking on the decision, Richard said; “I would like to thank all the players, parents and staff for everything they gave to the Academy during my time here and their contribution to making it what it has become. This is undoubtedly one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make as being at the club has been a huge part of my life.”
We would like to thank Richard for his service to the club and wish him every success for the future.
