Danny Webb is eager to bounce back from defeat in his opening game as O’s boss on Saturday with three points this evening when hosting Morecambe at the Matchroom Stadium.
The 33-year-old’s first game at the helm ended in a 2-1 defeat to third-placed Carlisle United at the weekend, having initially taken the lead through Gavin Massey’s 25th minute strike.
Gary Liddle levelled matters before the break, before Jamie Proctor secured all three points with his first goal for the Cumbrians. Despite his sending off minutes later for the a second bookable offence, the O’s couldn’t net a late equaliser.
Orient come into the game in 23rd spot in League Two, seven points and six positions adrift of tonight’s opponents Morecambe.
The original fixture at the Matchroom Stadium had been called off due to a frozen pitch, and since then, despite their off-the-field issues with players not being paid, the Shrimps have grounded out three draws and one win from their last four matches.
Last time out, they picked up a solid point at table-toppers Doncaster Rovers having broke the deadlock through Peter Murphy with 24 minutes on the clock.
Former O John Marquis netted his 18th league goal of the season for Donny to level matters, and that was how it ended.
Away from their Globe Arena home, Jim Bentley’s side have accumulated 19 of their 32 points via five wins and four draws.
The victories have come against Yeovil Town (1-0), Accrington Stanley (3-2), Cambridge United (2-1), Notts County (2-1) and Mansfield Town (1-0). Draws have been picked up at Barnet, Colchester United, Carlisle United and Doncaster Rovers.
