The young O’s suffered a tough 5-1 loss away to Stevenage in the side’s second Merit League game, with Ruel Sotiriou grabbing a consolation goal.
The two sides had met twice already this season with the O’s taking both wins and keeping clean sheets in the process.
The home side scored early on, as the O’s lost possession on half way and didn’t recover ,allowing Mark McKee to score the opener.
Orient had a great chance to level the score minutes later. Aaron Rowe played a wonderful ball over the top, which found Sotiriou who attempted to chip the keeper but the shot was tipped wide.
Stevenage then caught the O’s in possession with an almost identical situation as the first goal, and this time Ali Omar doubled the home side’s lead.
Boro managed to go three up just minutes after the restart. Michael Gregan made a snaking run through the defence and scored past Arthur Janata.
Sotiriou made a great solo run into the box and was brought down by the centre back, as the referee pointed to the spot. Sotiriou took on the responsibility and calmly put the ball into the back of the net to give the O’s a lifeline at 3-1.
Despite Orient trying to get back into the game they conceded a free kick just outside the box. Zak Guerfi was on set piece duty and he duly found the bottom corner.
It was game over for the O’s soon after though as Stevenage bagged the fifth and final goal, with substitute Arthur Ionnton getting on the score sheet.
A hard result for the young O’s but won the side will hopefully bounce back from and find the form. Next up is a home fixture, as the O’s host Newport County on Saturday, 12pm kick off.
