PREVIEW: Luton Town v Leyton Orient

access_time 5 years ago

The O’s are set to make the short trip to Luton Town in the hope of keeping our League Two survival alive.

Orient sit bottom of the league and 10 points adrift of Hartlepool United who currently occupy 22nd spot going into the opening Easter fixture.

If results do not go our way, then we could face relegation from the English Football League, and go into the game on the back of a 3-0 loss at Cambridge United last weekend.

Goals from Luke Berry, Conor Newton and George Maris sealed defeat for Omer Riza’s side, which contained only three players above the age of 20.

Last time out, Luton had Olly Lee to thank for securing all three points in the Hatters 1-0 win at Barnet, while O’s loanee Ollie Palmer secured the previous 1-0 success over Hartlepool United with a goal in the final minute of the game.

The Hatters occupy fourth spot in the League Two table going into the game and Nathan Jones’ side have lost just five times at home this season.

Those defeats have come against Grimsby Town (2-1), Portsmouth (3-1), Colchester United (1-0), Cheltenham Town (3-2) and Stevenage (2-0)

Orient boss Omer Riza on the trip to Kenilworth Road – here

O’s boss Omer Riza will be hoping to have a couple of his senior players back involved after missing out in the 3-0 defeat at Cambridge United.

The likes of Callum Kennedy, Paul McCallum, Teddy Mezague and Nicky Hunt all missed out last weekend, but could be back for the trip to the promotion hopefuls.

For Luton, Ollie Palmer is ruled out of the game as his loan prevents him from playing against his parent club.

SKY BET BETTING (correct at the time of writing)

The O’s are  11/1 outsiders to win on the road at Luton on Friday afternoon.

The Hatters are odds-on at 1/4 with the EFL sponsors to get the three points and the draw is offered at 19/4.

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in seven of Orient’s last eight games and Sky Bet go odds-on at 8/15 that this match goes above that mark (11/8 that it doesn’t).
