After the huge success in season one and a whopping 412kg lost already, dates for season two of the Leyton Orient Man v Fat Football League have been confirmed and will start on June 6 to help even more men lose weight.
The MAN v FAT Football scheme has featured on BBC’s The One Show and has even been the focus of a programme on both German and Brazilian national television. The 15-week long league is being offered to men with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 27.5 or over and you can find out your BMI by visiting https://manvfat.com/football.
Uniquely, the MAN v FAT Football League is decided not just on points won, but pounds lost. It is suitable for men of any fitness level and there are even non-playing roles available, meaning that men of any size can get involved and get healthier. As well as regular football, every player also receives free resources, inspiration and 24/7 support to help them lose weight and get fitter via MANVFAT.com.
The next league starts on June 6, 2017 and you don’t have to be an O’s fan to get involved! The league will run on Tuesday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm outdoors at The Score Centre on Oliver Road, Leyton.
Thirty-six-year-old Trevor, took part in season one and lost an outstanding 28.9kg which was equivalent to 15 per cent of his starting weight and said: ‘I’m a massive football fan but I had not played as part of a team or league for about 13 years until I discovered manvfat and signed up straight away. I didn’t know anyone when I started but it’s been an amazing experience where I’ve made so many new friends and had lots of fun.
“We all had different levels of fitness, footballing experience, ages & weight/health issues. Over the 14 weeks I lost a total of 28.9kg, losing weight consistently for 12 weeks reaching my 5 and 10 per cent weight loss goals too, the motivation I’ve had from my team as well as my two children who come along to watch each week has really helped me achieve my goals!
“My team came second in the weight loss league for the season which was also fantastic. Using the forums & the WhatsApp team group I found and shared some great tips for both diet & exercise to encourage my teammates as and when we needed it, our coach was also excellent providing support and motivation too. I can’t wait to start season two so I can hit my next weight loss goals and hopefully lead our team Midnight Feast to the title this time around!”
Phillip Smith, Head of Health and Wellbeing for Leyton Orient Trust said: “It’s been great to see the progress of the lads during the first season with 98% of the participants in our league losing weight by the end of the season. We’re keen to offer as many men the opportunity to take part as possible as the impact we’ve seen during the first season alone has proven to be life changing for a number of the men involved. “I’d urge any guys who fancy winning their battle against fat to give it a try – the only thing they have to lose is weight!”
Please note that spaces on the leagues are limited and you don’t have to be a team to play, 99 per cent of those who sign up to the leagues are individuals just looking to play football and beat fat! Register now at www.manvfat.com/football
