On the back of striker David Mooney returning to the Club yesterday, the 28-year-old has agreed a two-year deal in E10 following the expiration of his contract at fellow Vanarama National League outfit Dagenham & Redbridge.
Having progressed through the ranks at West Ham United, the left back made his senior debut in 2008 while on loan at Rotherham United before signing for Grimsby Town during the summer of 2009 after a successful loan spell.
Following a year with the Mariners, Widdowson made the switch to Rochdale where he registered 73 appearances between 2010-2012, before enjoying two years at Northampton Town in which he made 75 appearances for the Cobblers.
Following a short spell at Bury which included a loan at Morecambe, the full-back signed for Dagenham & Redbridge on loan in November 2014 before completing a permanent switch.
During his time at the Daggers, Widdowson went on to make a total of 106 appearances, with the defender making 51 of those for John Still’s side last season as they reached the Vanarama National League Play-Off Semi-Final.
