Students from Level 1, Level 3 BTEC and Level 2 NCFE Diploma in Sport were flag bearers before the match, and took penalties on the pitch at half-time in front of a crowd of 3,352 fans. There was also a special presentation by the Penny Wycherley, Principal of Waltham Forest College, Neil Taylor, Chief Executive of Leyton Orient Trust and Andree Selner, Head of Education at Leyton Orient Trust of badges to the newly appointed group of Student Ambassadors.

Student Ambassador, Yasin said: “Being a learner voice has helped me identify what aspects of the sports course students want to see improved. Working with other student ambassadors enables us all to put forward suggestions to make improvements to the course.”

Student, Tafari said: “Taking a penalty at the Leyton Orient Matchroom Stadium was a good experience for me as it grew my confidence to perform in front of a big crowd. I scored my penalty and it was a pleasure to play in such a nice pitch.”

Andree Selner, Head of Education at Leyton Orient Trust said: “Evenings like this are a great opportunity that motivates and inspires our learners.  We’re able to provide this unique experience through our close partnership with Leyton Orient Football Club. This is also a great chance for us to thank our partners at Waltham Forest College and let them share in the learners’ achievements.”
