Both sides had chances to seal all three points at the Matchroom Stadium as Bonne saw his 82nd minute goal disallowed for a foul on Boreham Wood ‘keeper Grant Smith.

For the first home game of 2018 Head Coach Justin Edinburgh made just two changes to the side that drew at Dagenham & Redbridge on New Year’s Day.

Jobi McAnuff and Matt Harrold started this afternoons fixture, with new signings Dan Holman and Lamar Reynolds starting on the bench alongside Charlie Grainger, David Mooney and Bondz N’Gala who returned from suspension.

The O’s got the game underway and registered the first attempt on goal. When Craig Clay went down under a Mark Ricketts challenge, Jobi McAnuff stepped up to strike from 30-yards but the skipper’s effort was wide of the target.

The visitors then went close inside the opening five minutes when an early cross to Alex Davey at the near post saw the striker’s touch saved well by the legs of Dean Brill.

Davey’s long throws proved dangerous as the ball fell to Murtagh whose shot from inside the box was blocked by Dan Happe before being cleared by James Dayton.

A minute shy of the half hour mark, Kieran Murtagh who caused a lot of problems early on fired a close-range effort against the crossbar after a long run down the right wing from Bruno Andrade allowed the winger to cross in to a dangerous position.

On the stroke of half-time Andrade got in behind the O’s defence and drilled a low cross in towards Ricky Shakes, but the midfielders attempt wasn’t enough to beat Brill who again used his legs to deny the visitors.

Boreham Wood got the second half underway but Orient looked the side most likely to score as Caprice and Dayton continued to link up well down the right wing as the O’s began to take a foot hold in the game.

A defensive mix up for Boreham Wood resulted in Dayton having a long-range effort at an open goal but the midfielders shot was high and wide of the target.

Lamar Reynolds replaced Craig Clay after 72 minutes to make his Orient debut and almost made an instant impact when his deflected shot from 25-yards looped just over the cross bar and out for a corner.

The visitors went close through Davey who got on the end of an Andrade free-kick but the attempted header bounced wide of the post.

Dayton whipped in a free-kick in to the box but Bonne could only glance his header straight at Smith in the Boreham Wood goal.

Moments later, Bonne placed the ball in the back of the net from distance before referee Samuel Allison pulled play back for a foul on Grant Smith after he collided with David Mooney

It was real end-to-end football as Reynolds again, stung the hands of Smith from range after good link up play between him and McAnuff.

Balanta then forced a good save out of Brill who was alert to beat away the winger’s low effort before, Mooney fired a volley straight at Smith at the other end of the pitch as the game drew to a goaless end.
