access_time 2 years ago

Held at the London Playing Fields Foundation site, Peter May Centre on Wadham Road, Walthamstow Parkrun is part the International Parkrun initiative. Every Saturday at 9am, runners take part in a free, timed 5km run. The weekly events are only made possible by the fantastic army of volunteers who give up their time.

For the 5th anniversary  the event organisers were looking to beat their record of 128 runners, which they smashed with an attendance of 207!

Runners were cheered on by Kent Teague, Principal Investor and Vice Chairman of Leyton Orient Football Club, and his wife Chris Teague, who were at the start line to support the group.

In total Leyton Orient Trust gave away 32 tickets to runners wishing to spend the afternoon watching the Aldershot Town game with their family and friends. After the run Louise Stephens from Leyton Orient Trust, handed out prizes to runners and volunteers.

Louise Stephens, Head of Communications for Leyton Orient Trust said:

“It’s fantastic that through the tickets kindly donated to us by the Club we are able to support local events in the community. Parkrun is a great example of encouraging all ages and all abilities to get involved in physical activity, and that’s definitely something at the Trust we like to support.”
