Justin Edinburgh’s men broke the Club record for longest unbeaten start to a season on Tuesday when they thrashed Braintree Town 1-5 at Cressing Road; Macauley Bonne netted a hat-trick while Marvin Ekpiteta and Josh Koroma bolstered the tally.
Sutton United come into the match sat in 7th position, having won eight, drawn once and lost four.
Paul Doswell’s men drew 2-2 with Dover Athletic on Tuesday, Craig Eastmond opening the scoring after just two minutes before Nicky Bailey doubled their advantage. Mitch Brundle pulled one back from the penalty spot before the break and Tim Schmoll headed home an equaliser in the 87th minute.
The U’s finished in 3rd position in the National League last season, losing 2-3 to Boreham Wood in the play-off semi-final.
Head Coach Justin Edinburgh will have a familiar selection headache ahead of the tie, having named an unchanged Starting XI for the past nine matches. However, the return of James Brophy and Sam Ling from injury gives him several options to choose from.
Defender George Elokobi is close to making a return from a hamstring injury he picked up in the 1-1 draw with Ebbsfleet United on August 7, while Matt Harrold will be pushing for a return to the bench having scored twice in E10 this season.
