Orient go into the match sitting sixth in South East Division One with eight points having won two, drawn two and lost two of their six league games this season.
Chris Brayford’s side registered their first point on home soil with a 2-2 draw against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday evening.
Hayley Barton and Lisa Holmback scored the goals as the O’s showed immense character to come from behind twice to salvage a draw on the night.
The O’s will now be looking for revenge against a side who took six points against them during the 2017/18 league campaign.
Actonians arrive at Mile End occupying fourth place in the division with ten points after three wins, one draw and three losses from their opening seven matches.
In their most recent outing, Actonians were beaten 5-0 away to table-toppers Crawley Wasps Ladies who registered five different goal scorers on Wednesday night.
Actonians will be hoping to bounce back from this disappointment by claiming their third consecutive league victory against the O’s.
Orient defender Kathryn Canavan made her fourth appearance of the season during the week and impressed at right-back. She is a team player and a great character, evident in the fact she has played 45 minutes in goal for the O’s this season. On Wednesday, she made some crucial interceptions and clearances and will be looking to hold down her spot at full-back in the coming weeks.
Actonians forward Alessandra Barreca has netted nine goals for her side this season, including a hat-trick in the 5-2 victory against Norwich City Ladies on 16th September. She has a good record against the O’s having scored four goals against them in the league last season and will be keen to add to that tally this weekend.
A Look at the Stats:
The O’s travelled to Actonians for their second match of last season, falling to a disappointing 5-1 defeat in the scorching heat on 29th August.
Alessandra Barreca bagged a brace alongside goals from Jessica Byrne, Katrina Duncan and Sinthujah Sooriyakumar with Egle Trezzi netting a consolation for the O’s.
Orient welcomed Actonians to the Breyer Group Stadium for the reverse fixture on 15th October with the visitors running out 4-3 winners in another high-scoring encounter.
Sophie Le Marchand, Chloe McNee and Sarka Stryhalova found the net for Orient, meanwhile Barreca netted another brace for the visitors as Byrne and Clare Hollinsworth also got in on the scoring act.
One week later, the O’s went seeking revenge when they took on Actonians in the Capital Cup. First half goals from Ellie Davies and Leyre Bastyr saw Orient progress to the next round with a 0-2 victory.
Manager Chris Brayford was feeling positive ahead of the game this weekend:
“The performance on Wednesday was encouraging as Wimbledon are a strong side and we had the better of the game, particularly in the second half and two fine goals from Hayley and Lisa. Everyone is working hard to try to get us to where we need to be and that is going to stand us in very good stead! We didn’t quite do enough to take the three points and we still need to sharpen up a few things, but I think we can take that display and build on it, starting this Sunday, as we have a fantastic group of players and the potential to go on a great run!”
