Amin Benyoucef had fired the O’s ahead after 19 minutes. An early dismissal picked up by Luca Carter-Henry, saw Wimbledon take advantage of their extra-man in the second half.
Wimbledon started the game the better side, and looked to take an early advantage on home soil. The O’s defended well in the opening stages, making vital blocks and tackles in the final third.
Orient broke forward and took the lead after 19 minutes. Amin Benyoucef battled in the middle of the park to keep hold of the ball, before going on an amazing solo-run and smashing home from the edge of the area.
However, Orient were reduced to ten men moments after taking the lead when Luca Carter Henry was dismissed by the referee.
The man advantage became evident in the second half, as the hosts began to expose the space on the pitch.
Wimbledon found an equaliser after 57 minutes of play. Their forward wriggled free before he placed a controlled effort into the bottom corner of the net, after he had pulled away from the crowd following a set piece.
The same man had his second goal in as many minutes when Wimbledon, again found luck from a set-play. The ball was whipped in and headed towards goal, before it took a further flick on into the roof of the net.
The O’s tried to refresh the side and inject energy back into the team by bringing on substitutes Anthony Papadopoulous and Jordon Adeyemi, but the changes were in vain as the side struggled to get back up to speed.
Wimbledon looked comfortable in the closing stages, and caught Orient on the break. Deep into stoppage time, the hosts added their third with a well-worked goal.
The men in blue held the ball up in the corner before wriggling free to spring an attack. The ball came to the centre forward on a hat-trick, who unselfishly squared for a team mate to tap home, and wrap up the victory.
