A goal each for forwards Macauley Bonne and James Brophy were enough to overcome Wrexham on Saturday afternoon.

Young ‘keeper Arthur Janata was named on the bench by Justin Edinburgh in place of Sam Sargeant who was ruled out by an ankle injury, while Charlie Grainger recovers from an operation on a broken wrist.

Wrexham got the game underway at an electric Racecourse Ground, Marvin Ekpiteta had the first effort on goal after seven minutes of play when he headed Jobi McAnuff’s free-kick beyond the far post.

Macauley Bonne then watched his header from six-yards drop perfectly in to the hands of Rob Lainton after crosses from Myles Judd and Josh Koroma caused the host’s problems at the back.

Dale Gorman was brought down by Brad Walker 25-yards from goal and was handed a yellow card for the challenge. McAnuff lined up to take the resulting free-kick but saw his shot drop the wrong side of the post.

Wrexham almost took the lead after 23 minutes when their quick free-kick found Rekeil Pyke in-behind the O’s defence but Dean Brill was alert to get down very quickly and deny the strike with an excellent save.

Wrexham had the majority of chances late in the second half, Josh Coulson, Marvin Ekpiteta and Joe Widdowson had to clear their lines on a number of occasions from Luke Summerfield’s dangerous deliveries in to the area.

Wrexham started the second-half quickly, successive corners needed good defending from Ekpiteta before Brill commanded his area and gathered the danger.

Shortly after the hour mark Brill did excellently to get down and push the ball off the line following Pearson’s free-header six yards from goal.

After the introduction of James Brophy, Koroma was on hand to force Judd’s cross goal-wards but Lainton was in the right place to make the save.

Brophy did well to beat his man on the right and deliver a low cross in to the box but nobody in Orient yellow was there to divert the ball towards goal before Wrexham cleared the ball.

Orient took the lead after 86 minutes when McAnuff’s corner dropped to Bonne inside the box, the O’s forward struck in to the roof of the net first time to give Orient the lead.

Immediately after taking the lead, Koroma as on the attack and evaded challenges from Wrexham defenders but was unlucky to hit the post.

It was all Orient at this stage and the lead was doubled when Lainton’s headed clearance dropped to Brophy who lobbed the ‘keeper from 30-yards to make it 0-2.

The game ended with O’s on top, all three-points were back on the road to E10.
