Justin Edinburgh’s men cemented their place at the top of the National League on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over Chesterfield at the Breyer Group Stadium.

The O’s took the lead through Josh Koroma early in the first half but Alex Kiwomya’s header ensured the scores were level at the break. However the O’s came out strong in the second half and regained the lead through Marvin Ekpiteta before a Macauley Bonne penalty on 85 minutes wrapped up the points.

Peter Taylor’s side are on a rich vein of form that has seen them gather 22 points from the last available 30 and the Daggers claimed the scalp of Salford City on Saturday.

They went behind after 13 minutes when Carl Piergianni’s header looped in but Conor Wilkinson equalised just before the break. Angelo Balanta confirmed the victory on 67 minutes.

The two sides met twice over the Christmas period last season, the O’s coming on top on Boxing Day through goals by Josh Coulson and Macauley Bonne before remaining goalless at Victoria Road on New Years’ Day.

The O’s will be without James Dayton and Charlie Grainger, who are long-term absentees, but Charlie Lee returned to action with a fine performance on Saturday.

The Club have SOLD OUT of our away allocation of 1,500. No further away tickets will be sold on the turnstile.
