Dean Brill’s first half penalty save was the closest Dover Athletic came to breaking the deadlock before Orient came closest through Dale Gorman who struck the post in the dying moments of the game.

Dover Athletic got the game underway at Crabble but immediately lost the ball to Orient who worked forward and picked out Dale Gorman on the edge of the box who struck goal wards but saw his effort denied.

The hosts were then awarded a penalty after seven minutes when Inih Effiong went down under the challenge of Dean Brill. However, the Orient ‘keeper excellently dived the right way and palmed the ball away to safety.

It was a lively start to proceedings in Dover. Brill was alert to deny Alfie Pavey’s point-blank header from the resulting corner after the penalty kick.

The game began to settle and Orient had the majority of possession when Matt Harrold came within inches of connecting with James Brophy’s corner kick but a flood of white shirts managed the ball clear.

There were few chances to report at the half hour mark, but Harrold’s flick on was met by the touch of Koroma who advanced in to the box but hit his shot over the target.

Immediately after the restart, Pavey latched on to the end of Reason’s pass but couldn’t keep the ball under the woodwork.

The hosts were on the attack again, this time Pavey won the knockdown and set himself to shoot but to the O’s luck the ball is wide of target.

The second half began quietly, Orient’s first chance came when Bonne’s whipped cross almost caught out Walker, but the Dover ‘keeper managed to get two hands on the ball.

Orient began to get a hold of the ball in the Dover half and tested Walker on two occasions, firstly Koroma’s low left footed drive forced the ‘keeper to dive to his left before Bonne’s first time shot from distance came after he spotted the Dover number one off his line.

The O’s continued to search for an opener late on in the game and it almost came when Gorman struck the ball against the post after Charlie Lee’s long throw had been knocked down into the midfielder’s path.

It proved to be the last chance of the game as referee Lloyd Wood blew time on the fixture and the point sees Orient remain top of the National League.
