A first half strike by Jack King was added to by Chris Bush’s second-half free-kick. Jamie Turley came closest for Orient after he came on and struck the post from a close range header but it wasn’t to be.

Head Coach Edinburgh named Jordan Maguire-Drew to start his first league game for the O’s while fellow new singing Jamie Turley was named among the substitutes.

Captain Jobi McAnuff missed out through a toe injury while Myles Judd served his single game suspension after he picked up a second yellow card last weekend against Wrexham AFC.

Ebbsfleet had the first chance of the game after a quiet opening ten minutes. Ebou Adams played a perfect through ball into the path of Michael Cheek who attempts to round Dean Brill but loses his footing in the process and poked wide of the target.

There was a moment of madness soon after, Nathan Ashmore picked up a back-pass inside his box from Sam Magri.

The referee awarded Orient an in-direct free-kick which Jordan Maguire-Drew touched for Macualey Bonne but his shot was charged down by numerous Ebbsfleet bodies on the line.

Ebbsfleet took the lead shortly after 20 minutes of play when Jack King volleyed home from the edge of the box after Orient failed to clear a corner kick.

Orient got a foothold in the game after half an hour when Maguire-Drew was perfectly played through by Lee, the winger set himself but fired inches wide of the far post.

James Brophy attacked down the left wing again, this time he made the by-line and cut the ball back for Bonne. However, the forwards first-time effort was excellently denied by the finger-tips of Nathan Ashmore.

Orient got the game back underway and started quickly. A number of Orient corners had to be defended well by Ebbsfleet defenders.

One of those corners was quickly turned into a home counter when Bagasan Graham advanced on goal but for excellent one-v-one defending from Alex Lawless to stop the danger.

The hosts were on the attack again moments later when Jack Payne’s first time effort was well blocked by the heel of Joe Widdowson as the ball looked to be heading into the net.

Up the Orient end, Koroma was through on goal and took his shot early but it was met equally by Ashmore in the Ebbsfleet net as the O’s pushed for a goal.

Ashmore was forced into another save moments later,  Maguire-Drew’s cross was headed back into the danger zone by Joe Widdowson and found Dan Happe but the defenders headed attempt was somehow smothered by the ‘keeper.

The hosts then added a second shortly after an hours play, Chris Bush smashed a direct free-kick into the top corner form distance.

Edinburgh made a triple substitution after 67 minutes bringing on Matt Harrold, Craig Clay and Jamie Turley for his debut.

Immediately after the changes, Brophy’s corner was headed goal-wards but cleared off the line by full-back Lawrie Wilson.

Another golden opportunity for Orient went begging after Brophy linked up with Bonne but the forward who was in the centre of the box couldn’t keep his attempt on target.

It was all Orient towards the latter stages of the game, debutant Turley was next to come close as he headed against the post from six yards following a mistimed Ebbsfleet clearance.

Next, Craig Clay’s early cross was headed inches wide of the near-post as only ten minutes of the game remained in Kent.

The final chance of the game fell to Josh Koroma who found himself though on goal and rightly lifted the ball over Ashmore but somehow, Wilson raced back to block the ball off the line and keep the O’s from scoring.

Despite the defeat, Orient still remain top of the National League table after 30 games.
