The group, who are studying for an ASDAN Level 1 Certificate in Employability, watched the first team in training before joining Jobi McAnuff in the club house for a chat. The O’s captain spoke about his time at Orient and his playing career to date, spanning International to Premier League success. As the visit was linked to their class work about employability, Jobi spoke to the students about the importance of discovering what they’re passionate about and finding routes to being successful in their fields. Afterwards the students had the opportunity to ask Jobi questions.
Alex Leslie, Leyton Orient Trust College Teacher, said: “I felt it was a great insight into a typical day for Leyton Orient players and staff, especially for those students who have an interest in becoming a coach or a physio in the sports industry.”
“The students were really engaged during the chat with Jobi. The messages he shared with the students on striving for success were inspirational; especially as they were coming from someone who has been playing at a high level of football for such a long time.”
