PREVIEW: Braintree Town (H)

access_time 3 years ago

Head Coach Justin Edinburgh made sure it was a Happy Easter for all as the O’s secured a point away at promotion and title rivals Solihull Moors.

Macauley Bonne and Jamie Turley came closest for the O’s but Dean Brill was alert when called upon to see the O’s within touching distance of the title with just one game remaining.

Braintree come in to this fixture in good form, they have won four of their last eight games including victories over promotion hopefuls AFC Fylde and Gateshead.

Three of those wins saw the Iron keep a clean sheet in games against Dagenham & Redbridge, Maidstone United and Gateshead.

Our last meeting was at Cressing Road back in September 2018. The O’s put five past Braintree that day, Lyle Della Verde scoring the home sides only goal. Macauley Bonne secured the match ball with a hat-trick while Marvin Ekpiteta and Josh Koroma also got on the scoresheet.

Similarly to Monday, Edinburgh will have no fresh injury doubts as we look to end the season on a high with a near full-fit squad.

Tomorrow’s referee will be Josh Smith, he will be assisted by Damith Bandara and Shaun Farrer with Jonathan Bolland as the fourth official. Smith has taken charge of the O’s on one occasion this term. That game came in our home fixture against Solihull Moors in September when the O’s won 3-0. So far this season, he has handed out 67 yellow cards, five red cards and 6 penalties in 18 National League appearances.
