Leyton Orient can confirm Steve Bartlett has been named Head of Coaching. Bartlett has gained significant experience coaching over the previous 22 years, including coaching futsal, and has experience working alongside the Football Association and was most recently working with Colchester Institute, a vocational college which caters for 14,000 students.

Further appointments include former-O’s player Brian Saah, who made 110 appearances after coming through the Club’s Academy, as Youth Development Phase Lead Coach and current-Maidstone United stopper Chris Lewington as the Club’s Academy Lead Goalkeeping Coach.

Craig Heskey has been appointed the Club’s Head of Education. Heskey has significant experience as a player in non-league football and has gained experience working with New Revolution Sports, gaining experience running Academy teams in the local area.

Akash Lakhani has been appointed as Foundation Phase Lead Coach, having gained experience working in the Tottenham Hotspur Academy where he was recognised by the FA for his volunteer work, while newly-appointed Academy Lead Physio, Marc Mulligan, has worked with the Charlton Athletic Academy alongside Sports Therapist work with Urban Massage.

They join a pre-existing Academy set-up which has achieved significant success in recent years, with a number of players coming through the ranks to play first-team football at Leyton Orient and elsewhere, including in the top flight.
