We travelled to National League South side Dartford for this afternoon’s latest pre-season friendly
Marvin Ekpiteta and Sam Ling struck either side of the break as the O’s recorded another pre-seaosn clean sheet and victory.
Dartford got us underway at Princes Park, we took the lead after just four minutes of play, Marvin Ekpiteta was first to react to James Brophy’s wide free-kick and tap home, free from just six yards.
Joe Widdoswon went close soon after, his driven effort was cleared off the line as Warner-Eley raced back to the goal-line to deny the O’s a second.
Chances for the remainder of the half were limited, as Orient took their single goal lead into the break.
Immediately after the break, Sam Ling and Matt Harrold linked up well in the final third, allowing Josh Wright to advance on goal. Instead of shooting, he opted to pass to Widdowson who couldn’t find the target.
Shortly after the hour mark, Brophy called ‘keeper Mark Smith into action, his left footed curling effort forced the ‘keeper to push the ball away to his right.
Sam Sargeant was kept busy in the second-half, Ben Greenhalgh tried his luck from distance but the ‘keeper was equal to the attempt.
Then, it was Jay Bacon who tested Sam Sargeant from distance, but the O’s number 12 coolly plucked the ball out of the air to make the save.
Darfford’s next chance came when Trialist A made the box and found namesake, Trialist B but the latter couldn’t direct the ball goal-wards.
It was Orient who struck next however, Brophy was again the provider, his corner kick was powered home by the head of Sam Ling whose run was timed to perfection.
That proved to be the last chance of the half for the O’s as the team remained solid to clinch another pre-season victory.
