With Saturday’s opening game of the season marking not only Leyton Orient’s first match back in the English Football League but also the first competitive game since the tragic passing of former Head Coach, Justin Edinburgh, here is a look at what tributes will be taking place throughout the day.
As many of you will be aware, Cheltenham Town fans have shown incredible love and support by crowdfunding a huge 24ft by 12ft flag with Justin’s photo and the message “He made you dream again”. This, along with one of the many flags O’s fans have had produced this summer, will greet the two teams as they come onto the pitch.
There will be a minute’s silence held before the start of the game, during which supporters in the Q2W Tommy Johnston South Stand are encouraged to hold up a large card they will find on their seat, which will spell out a mosaic of “JE3”.
At half time, representatives from the Robins Trust will return to the pitch to formally handover their flag to Leyton Orient and present Justin’s son, Charlie Edinburgh with a cheque for more than £1,500 of additional funds raised, all of which will go towards the JE3 Foundation.
Our new-look E10 match day magazine will also include a tribute to Justin Edinburgh. This will be available for purchase around the stadium and Club Superstore for £3.
The Club would once again like to say a special thank you to everyone at Cheltenham Town, the Robins Trust and all Cheltenham fans for their support ahead of Saturday’s game, which really shows the love and empathy of the entire football community. We would also like to thank our East Stand sponsors, Green Inc, for supplying the cards for the mosaic, free of charge.
Please arrive early
Finally, we do not want anyone to miss the pre-match tributes on Saturday so we strongly encourage fans to arrive earlier than normal at The Breyer Group Stadium, particularly if collecting match tickets or Season Tickets before the game.
The West Stand Ticket Office will be open for ticket sales and Season Ticket collections from 12pm and the adjacent ticket collections booth will also be open for match ticket collections.
Elsewhere the Supporters Club bar and Fan Zone at Score will both open from midday and the turnstiles from 1pm (South Stand) / 1.30pm (all other stands), providing plenty of time to collect tickets and enter the ground. The early Sky Bet League 2 kick-off between Salford City and Stevenage will be shown live across the stadium TVs from 12.30pm.
