Leyton Orient’s U18s were subject to a three goal defeat at Peterborough United’s youngsters on the opening day of the Youth Alliance League.

Orient went closest first, Lawrence Hammond was closed down quickly by the ‘keeper to squirm the O’s attacker and close down his shooting angle.

However, it was the hosts who took the lead after 27 minutes of play, a square ball from the right was swept home by the man in blue who waited on the penalty spot.

Ten minutes later, Peterborough’s lead was doubled through a fine counter attack. A loose ball in midfield was picked up by the captain who threaded a pass beyond the O’s back-line for the attacker to latch on to and slot home.

Antony Papadopoulos had the chance to reduce the deficit, but with just five minutes of the half remaining, the midfielder struck his 25-yard free kick inches over the crossbar.

The third and final goal of the game came ten minutes after the break. An attack on the left flank found the bent run of the forward who advanced in to the box and found the back of the net.

Up next for the young O’s is the visit of Milton Keyens Dons to Old Chigwellians Training Ground, 10:30am kick-off on Saturday morning.
