A young O’s side visited Potters Bar Town on Tuesday night for a friendly match, and a reunion with O’s legend John Mackie.
Ruel Sotiriou led the side out as one of only a handful of players with first team experience, alongside Myles Judd, Shadrach Ogie and Jayden Sweeney.
The home side, who play in the Isthmian Premier Division, took the lead on the third minute when Joshua Hutchinson curled home a lovely free-kick from 25 yards out, after the O’s were penalised for a handball.
Arthur Janata was forced into a save in the 14th minute when the home side’s right winger beat Sweeney and poked at goal, Janata able to push the ball away before the rebound was side-footed wide.
Heavy rain and bright sunshine created a rainbow over the Pakex Stadium but the only gold came for Potter Bar’s Josh Hutchinson who netted his second from close range when a quick throw outsmarted the O’s back-line.
The Hertfordshire-based side almost made it three with 30 minutes on the clock as their left winger raced onto a counter attack and curled an effort just wide from distance.
The O’s started the second half brightly as a good passing move started by Shadrach Ogie created a chance for Lawrence Hammond, whose shot was well blocked.
Ruel Sotiriou went close in the 67th minute as he received a cross-field ball by Ogie, cut inside and curled towards the back post, watching it go just wide!
The O’s finally pulled one back with 20 minutes to go as a long-ball behind the Potters Bar back four was brought down by Sivi who drilled it across goal to Adeyemi to tap home.
Orient controlled much of the remainder of the match as the young side showed more patience and style but couldn’t quite clinch an equaliser.
