Leyton Orient are delighted to confirm the capture of highly-rated midfielder George Marsh on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until January.
The 20-year-old is described by tottenhamhotspur.com as a ‘tenacious, tough-tackling holding midfielder’ and made his competitive debut for the Premier League giants in a 7-0 win over Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup in January 2019.
He was an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup and in the Premier League last season and even travelled with the squad to the Champions League final against Liverpool in Madrid in April, before signing a new two-year contract with Spurs in May.
The midfielder, who was born in Pembury in Kent, was instrumental for the Spurs Development squad last season, appearing in all four of their EFL Trophy matches against senior Football League sides as well as making 20 appearances in the Premier League 2 and four times in the Premier League International Cup, captaining the squad on a number of occasions.
Marsh can also play as a centre-back and at right-back, featuring in the latter position throughout pre-season. He appeared in the International Champions Cup matches against Juventus, Inter Milan and Manchester United as well as an appearance in the Audi Cup against Bayern Munich.
O’s Interim Head Coach Ross Embleton said, “I’ve been quoted before saying that any young players we bring in on loan, especially on their first loan experience, it is really important that we get the right character and a player suited to the level of football they are coming in to. George and the way he is and the level of intensity in how he works certainly gives him the opportunity to make this a successful loan period for him and make a big impression on us”
