Interim Head Coach Ross Embleton provided an injury update for current absentees Jamie Turley, James Dayton and Jobi McAnuff following the draw with Salford City on Saturday.
After being asked whether Tuesday is too early for Jamie Turley to see action, Ross Embleton said, “I think so. I am hoping Jamie will train with the team fully on Monday or later in the week. The target is him to train on Monday. He’s looking stronger so I think the next step for Jamie is to step into the group and see the knocks and bumps, twists and turns and see how the groin holds up to that. Fingers crossed he’ll train on Monday and we’ll see where he is after that but it’s far too early in terms of him being involved.”
Embleton continued by expanding on other absentees, “James Dayton is looking good. The conversation we had before we left was that he had run his most amount of distance in training the other day, which was with some twists and turns – all unopposed but it’s nice to see him moving. I think it’s going to be a process of firstly getting James strong enough to run comfortably and then to drip him into training. It’s going to be a little bit longer than we would have liked but he suffered a horrendous injury”
“Jobi McAnuff is good. He’s not quite training with the group yet but despite going under the knife, we knew it was quite a quick turnaround. He’s covering some really distances at a really good intensity, albeit on his own in terms of the running at the moment. We’re hopeful it is going to be in the next couple of weeks in terms of being closer to the group. How soon that is, it’s a bit like Jamie, it is too soon to tell.”
