Orient progressed through to the next round of the Youth Alliance Cup after Tuesday’s 2-5 win at Barnet.

Jeremie Sivi notched his second in as many weeks while Brendon Shabani and Jordan Adeyemi also got on the score sheet. First half substitute Antony Papadopoulous secured a brace as the O’s won comfortably in North London.

Lawrence Hammond got us going in Barnet but it was the hosts who took the lead inside the opening two minutes. A defensive mixup saw Rhys Byrne’s clearance rebound off the forward in orange and hit the back of the net.

Orient’s first chance came after 10 minutes, Ahmed Mirza fired a shot straight at the Barnet keeper from close range after the midfielder lurked at the back post following a low cross from the left.

We drew level after half an hour, Jeremie Sivi showed great individual skill to fool two of his markers in to missed challenges before the midfielder slotted home, sending the ‘keeper the wrong way in the process.

The youngsters built on their first and added a second shortly before the break. Sivi’s cross was parried by the Barnet ‘keeper, but only in to the path of Antony Papadopoulous who tapped home from close range to give the O’s the lead.

Barnet got the game restarted but couldn’t match Orient who picked up from where they left off, Papadopoulous coolly dispatched a very smart headed cross from Bradley McClenaghan.

Against the run of play, the hosts were awarded a penalty with just 20 minutes left of the game. O’s ‘keeper Rhys Byrne was equal to the initial spot kick and palmed the ball away, but Barnet picked up the rebound and crossed back in to the danger area to meet the run of a man in orange who finished well in to the top corner.

Our lead was stretched to two goals when Jordan Adeyemi latched on to a big defensive clearance and got the better of his marker leaving him with only the ‘keeper to beat. The forward then slotted beyond the Barnet stopped to notch his fifth goal in three games.

Orient wrapped up the game shortly before the final whistle, Brendon Shabani was in the right place at the right time to sweep home following a parry from the Barnet ‘keeper back in to the danger area.
