As part of the Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture 2019 celebrations, this Saturday’s home game against Port Vale will coincide with a one-day community celebration of arts and culture.

Presented by Great British Carnival, Inspiration Arts and Leyton Orient FC, Carnival Fantastico will be a free event taking place in Coronation Gardens from 2pm to 6.30pm and will include activities for all the family to enjoy, including dance, music, spoken word and food stalls.

You can also get involved by becoming part of a carnival parade or by trying out a new skill in one of the open workshop areas.

What’s more, fans attending the O’s game will be able to see special carnival performances inside the Breyer Group Stadium at approximately 2.45pm and 3.45pm, consisting of flags, costume, banners and a band of traditional drums. Tickets for the game range from £3 to £20 in advance and can be purchased now at

Chief Executive Danny Macklin, commented, “We are delighted to be part of Waltham Forest Council Borough of Culture 2019 celebrations. We are proud to have developed a very close working relationship with Waltham Forest Council over the past few years and have been keen to help celebrate their status as London’s first ever Borough of Culture. In addition to hosting council representatives at the game and supplying free tickets to a selection of local schools, activities on the day will rightly celebrate the strong arts and culture scene in the local area and will help bring a carnival atmosphere to match day which all our fans will enjoy.”

Sam Hunt, Creative Director, Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture 2019, said: “Carnival Fantastico will be a visual and vibrant performance on Leyton Orient’s pitch at half time.  This event is a great way for local people to come together and celebrate the creativity and diversity of our borough.

This event leads on from ‘Carnivalista Culture’ part of the Fellowship Funding grants programme which was a programme of free carnival costume workshops for families during the summer – this is a great opportunity to showcase the project to a wider audience.

From football fans to family this is a day out for everyone to enjoy, get involved and join the party”.
