Port Vale defender James Gibbons has told his teammates not to “underestimate” the O’s ahead of tomorrow’s SkyBet League Two clash at the Breyer Group Stadium.

The full-back, who has started the season as first-choice right back, told port-vale.co.uk, “We know they’re [Orient] down there but you can’t underestimate them just like any team in the league, it’ll be a good atmosphere down there and there’s a few away fans making the trip down so it should be a good game.”

He followed by discussing Tuesday night’s 3-2 win over Macclesfield Town in the Leasing.com Trophy, “It’s always good for a player when you’re playing well and you’re breeding confidence, so it’s good for me but you’ve got to take it a game at a time and just improve on what you did last week.

“Taking a win into another game, it just gives you confidence and when you play Tuesday, Saturday and you’re winning games and you’re playing well that’s the best thing in football.”

Vale Manager, John Askey, has expressed calm as his Port Vale side look to end their slow away start, ”

“The performances have been decent, we might not have won but we’ve got results away from home, Tuesday night was our first [away] win so I’m not too concerned.

“Last season the results were better away from home, so what we’ve got to do is get a happy medium, obviously our home form’s improved massively, now we’ve got to concentrate on the away performances.

“The league’s very much a muchness, but it’s about us and if we can perform how we have done in the majority of games then we can get a result.”
