The O’s picked up a massive three points on the road last Saturday, beating Northampton Town 1-0 as James Brophy bagged the winner. The result lifted Orient to 20th in the League Two table.
Our visitors Walsall come into the game having been beaten 3-0 by Salford City on home soil. Luke Armstrong scored a first half goal for the Ammies and a goal each from Jake Jervis and Ibou Touray in the second half completed the score-line.
The Saddlers sit two points above Orient, with Darrell Clarke leading Walsall to four wins so far this season, three of which have come on their travels.
Returning to league action, the starting XI is likely to be more familiar, though Marvin Ekpiteta will be assessed after coming off against Wimbledon with a tight hamstring.
Ross Embleton made nine changes midweek as the O’s fell to a 3-0 defeat to AFC Wimbledon, handing fringe players the opportunity to get valuable minutes under their belt.
James Dayton featured for the opening 60 minutes of the Leasing.com Trophy tie, as he returned from injury.
Sam Ling was forced off last Saturday against Northampton and is considered a major doubt. Jobi McAnuff, Lee Angol and Jamie Turley remain unavailable for selection.
This afternoon’s game will be officiated by Ben Toner, assisted by Conor Farrell and Louis Marks. The Fourth Official is Alasdair Ross.
Toner has taken charge of eight matches this season and handed out 22 yellow cards, no red cards and given two penalties. He last took charge of the O’s in September 2016 in a 2-2 draw with Carlisle, handing out yellow cards to Callum Kennedy, Liam Kelly and Ollie Palmer and awarding a 87th minute penalty against Orient.
