Kevin Ellison and Barry Roche are looking to ‘keep the lads together’ after long term manager Jim Bentley left Morecambe on Monday.

The experienced players have accepted the responsibility of dealing with first team affairs until the Club find a replacement for Bentley, who stepped down and joined Fylde this week. Goalkeeper Roche spoke to morecambefc.com:

“We accepted and we’re looking forward to Saturday now. It’s all about keeping the lads together and getting some points on the board.”

The Shrimps sit bottom of the League Two table, picking up just ten points so far this season.

“We’re all gutted that Jim Bentley’s gone but we can’t feel sorry for ourselves, there’s a job to be done.”

Having lost 1-0 to Stevenage at the weekend, Morecambe are looking to bounce back at home.

“It’s a massive game on Saturday, we’re really disappointed with how we performed at the weekend against Stevenage and we didn’t play anywhere near good enough in what was such a big game.”

The ‘keeper, who has been at the Club for 11 years, has his sights on three points.

“Kev and I are looking to get the lads up for the next challenge and go and get the three points that we need.”
