After securing their place in the next round of the County Cup at the weekend, the O’s are back in cup action on Wednesday night as they take on Dulwich Hamlet in the CCFL Cup at the Mile End Stadium.

Last Time Out

Back on home soil after a lengthy absence, Orient recorded a comfortable 5-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur’s Reserves on Sunday.

Sophie Le Marchand and Hayley Barton scored one each in the opening eight minutes to give the O’s an early two goal advantage, before Le Marchand bagged another just before the break to put her side three up going into the interval.

Arguably the pick of the goals came from Ellie Stenning in the 67th minute. The O’s forward latched onto Fran Ali’s through ball and produced a sublime finish from a tight angle to add a fourth.

Substitute Michelle Young, scored the final goal of the game in the 88th minute, dinking a half volley over the keeper to put some extra gloss on a fine performance.

Opposition View

Dulwich Hamlet currently sit atop the London & South East Regional Women’s – Premier Division with a total of 20 points from their nine games played.

The Hamlet have won their last four games in all competitions. The most eye-catching result of those four saw them beat Haringey Borough 11-0 just over a fortnight ago, while their most recent result saw them defeat Fulham 4-3 away from home last weekend.

These two sides last met back in August. Orient came out the victors that day beating Dulwich 2-1 at Champion Hill as part of their pre-season preparations.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Speaking ahead of the game, Ellie Stenning spoke about the last time the two faced off back in August.

“Dulwich Hamlet are a decent side, we played them in pre-season and that was a hard battle, so they’ll definitely be up for it.”

Full back, Ria Collins, also added:

“As long as we keep this mentality up, we go into any game confident.”

Coming to the Game?

The match takes place this Wednesday November 27th at the Mile End Stadium with kick off scheduled for 7:45pm. The ground is situated just a ten minute walk from both Mile End and Limehouse stations.
