Christmas message from Chairman, Nigel Travis

access_time 2 years ago

Hello everyone,

We are nearly at the end of both the year and the decade, which is remarkable as it seems like yesterday that we were all worrying about Y2K! Time certainly flies and it is now over two years since our consortium purchased our Club. When I reflect back, those 30 months have been a period of real achievement as we have met our primary goal, which was to be back in the Football League.
2019 has been a year of considerable ups and downs. Obviously the most significant event of the year was the very sudden, and very sad, passing of Justin Edinburgh who will forever be known as the person who coached us back to the Football League and set an example for leadership to all. The promotion and relative consolidation in the Football League are the clear achievements of the year and as we turn the page to 2020, I am expecting further progress.
The support this year by our supporters has been staggering and I want to take this opportunity to thank every single one of you for your consistency and unwavering encouragement of the team.
We have one remaining home game on Boxing Day at 1pm (yes, note the kick-off time!) against Colchester United and I’m hoping to see everyone there. We are expecting large numbers so please book your ticket early and if you happen to be travelling, the game is being streamed domestically and internationally!
In closing, please have a very restful and happy Christmas and we wish you all every success for 2020!
Up the O’s,

Nigel Travis
