LOWFC Preview: Dulwich Hamlet (H)

After defeating Tottenham Hotspur’s Reserves in the previous round, Orient will be bidding to reach the Capital Cup Semi-Final’s this weekend as they take on Dulwich Hamlet at the Mile End Stadium.


The O’s defeated Phoenix Sports 4-0 at the Mayplace Ground to progress to the semi-finals of the Isthmian Cup.

Sophie Le Marchand bagged two before half time to give her side a comfortable advantage going into the second half.

Hayley Barton added a third eight minutes after the break to put the tie beyond any doubt, before Le Marchand completed her hat-trick in the 74th minute to put the gloss on a fine performance for Chris Brayford’s side.

Orient will now face Billericay Town in the next round as they look to retain the trophy they won last season.

The Opposition

Prior to this season, Dulwich were known as AFC Phoenix, however tragedy struck their first season under the Dulwich banner with the devastating passing of manager Farouk Menia in November. Everyone associated with Leyton Orient would like to extend its condolences to the club and Farouk’s nearest and dearest at this difficult time.

Dulwich currently sit 2nd in the South East Premier Division with seven wins, three draws and a loss in their 11 games played. They come into this fixture on a four match unbeaten run, following wins over Fulham and QPR before Christmas, and draws with Ashford Town (Middlesex) and Denham United in their last two fixtures.

Previous Meeting

Orient continued their pre-season preparations with a 2-1 win over Dulwich Hamlet in what was Dulwich’s first outing under their new banner in August. Goals from Kayleigh Xidhas and Hayley Barton secured the win for the O’s at Champion Hill in the last meeting between the two sides.

Coming to the Game?

The match takes place this Sunday 16th February at the Mile End Stadium, kick off is scheduled for 2:00PM. The ground is situated just a ten minute walk from both Mile End and Limehouse stations.
