To our supporters,
First and foremost, I hope you and your family are well during these challenging and unprecedented times.
I write to you as we approach three years since we took over the Club, and what a 3 years, with many highs and lows, on and off the pitch.
Whilst much has changed during that time, one thing that has remained constant is the phenomenal support of you, our fans. On behalf of the Board of Directors, players and staff we would like to thank you for everything you have been able to do to support your Club during the past few difficult months.
Now we must look forward – whilst we patiently wait for a 2020/21 season schedule, I want to personally assure you that when it is deemed safe to return to action at The Breyer Group Stadium we will be as prepared as anyone to provide an enjoyable and safe as possible experience for every fan, sponsor or guest. Behind the scenes extensive planning is taking place to make this happen.
In the meantime, I urge every O’s fan to continue their support in every way possible in the coming weeks and months. Put simply, the effect of COVID-19 is likely to require an additional cash investment of over £1.5m. That is in addition to the budgeted operating losses of last and next season.
We made clear back on 22nd June 2017 that our number one objective is to become a Club that is sustainable and as successful as possible. Prior to COVID-19 we were making progress to reduce our losses and that goal becomes more troublesome, but still essential during these times.
So far we have been proud of the support shown from Leyton Orient fans from across the world in the support of our innovative FIFA Quaranteam competition which raised almost £90k for charities, our unique Harry Kane Shirt Sponsorship which helped trigger record shirt sales and the near 2,000 who have secured their Season Card already for next season.
There of course is a great deal unknown about next season, but what I can share today is that should any home games be played behind closed doors that our enhanced streaming service will provide the next best alternative for Season Card Holders to enjoy from the safety and comfort of home.
Furthermore, should we need to play any home games with a reduced crowd owing to social distancing of course Season Card Holders will receive priority. This could result in, for a period at least, that the only way to watch in stadium will be to purchase a Season Card.
We appreciate making such a purchase will not be possible for everyone at this stage but urge each Orient fan to consider the value of purchasing a Season Card to support your Club and provide something for you to look forward to.
Given the continued uncertainty regarding the start of next season, we have today made the decision to extend the Early Bird window until Sunday 12th July to provide additional time for fans to purchase or renew their seat and for Club staff to catch up with the back-log of ticketing and retail orders. The Early Bird period provides fans with the opportunity to save and secure your favourite seat.
As we move from Season Tickets to Season Cards a reminder that fans, should they not be able to attend, can pass their Card onto friends and family (provided it is not moving up a category e.g. child Season Card being used by an adult).
In the next week or so we will also launch a new finance option that will provide the ability for fans to spread the cost over a number of months – something which we expect to be popular.
Throughout the 2020/21 season we will be finding new and innovative ways to reward our loyal Season Card Holders.
If you have already secured your seat for next season – thank you. Your support has never been more important and more appreciated.
In the coming weeks we will launch a number of new initiatives to raise vital income whilst bringing fans, young and old, closer to the Club. A new Academy Club, the re-launch of Theo’s Membership and the release of our new Orient Overseas Membership – plus much more.
As Chairman of this great Club I take pride in the progress of the past three years and look forward with confidence for continued progress on and off the pitch. With a couple of additions to Ross’s squad I believe we can compete with the best of the league on a more regular basis next season.
Thank you once again for your continued support, ideas and energy. Leyton Orient is a Club with huge pride in its heritage and belief in its future.
Together we go forward as Only One Orient.
Up the O’s!
