The EFL can confirm that the 2020/21 Season will get underway across the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two on the weekend of 12 September.

The 2020/21 season will conclude on the 8 and 9 May 2021, with the Sky Bet Play-Off Finals reverting back to the Spring Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May.

Work is currently underway in respect of fixture scheduling and details will be announced in due course as to when full fixture lists for 2020/21 will be made available.

“We very much welcome the news that the 2020/21 season is set to commence on Saturday 12th September,” said Chief Executive Danny Macklin.

“Behind the scenes we are working on ever-changing guidelines in relation to crowd management. We obviously await further confirmation as to when fans will be allowed back into stadiums, and we are confident this will be sooner rather than later.”

“We would like to reassure all fans that we will be going the extra-mile that, when you return, you will do so with all safety measures in place.”

“Reviews are ongoing review of the guidelines, and in consultation with the local authority and other agencies, to ensure we can safely open the gates of the Breyer Group Stadium.

“With the players now back in full training, we now enter the next stage during the Covid crisis, and on behalf of everyone at the club, I’d like to thank the 2,800+ Season Card holders and urge those who are able to, to secure their place for what we hope will be an exciting return to football, in just a matter of weeks.”
