An Update Ahead Of The 20/21 Season

Ahead of the new season starting in less than a month, the club recognise there are still questions to be answered during these uncertain times.

Whilst we’re not yet in a position to clarify on all matters – Chief Executive Danny Macklin has moved to answer as many as possible in the below update.

With the 2020/21 season start date now set for Saturday 12th September, behind the scenes we continue preparation on and off the pitch,” said Macklin.

“Thanks to the incredible support of Orient fans we now have over 3,000 Season Card holders. On behalf of everyone at the Club I want to thank every fan who has been willing and able to purchase their Season Card.”

“At this stage we expect the first few games to be played behind closed doors – whilst we appreciate this is not ideal for anyone – we want to assure fans we will be providing the next best option to being here via our enhanced streaming service.”

“We are placing huge emphasis on enhancements of our streaming service which will be provided to Season Card holders as part of their package, and we will announce further details of the exciting new developments in the coming week.”

“Secondly, I would like to thanks fans for their patience in the processing of season card and ticket refunds. Thanks to the on-going hard work of staff, in addition to the dispatch of over 4,000 shirt orders, we are nearing completion of the process.

“We have now called the majority of fans who requested refunds or deferred their 2019/20 purchase – however, a number of fans have not been able to answer when called.”

“We are continuing calls (including those who did not answer) as swiftly as possible and thank fans for their continued patience.”

“We are truly blessed by the support shown from Orient fans during this difficult and challenging time. As a Club we estimate, at this stage, that the effect of COVID has caused over £1.5m of additional costs (after taking into account revenue).”

When will be able to attend games at The Breyer Group Stadium?

 It is hoped at this stage that fans will be able to attend games from October.

We are working through very detailed draft guidelines to ascertain the capacity that will be available.

This series of calculations is heavily based on access/concourse space/toilets etc. We are working around the clock in close partnership with the local authority and the emergency services.

The Club will announce the collection/dispatch of Season Cards nearer to the start of the return of crowds.

 

I am yet to secure my season card, when can I purchase/renew?

We have paused the sale of Season Cards for now whilst we ascertain the likely crowd number restrictions. We will be doing everything possible whilst adhering to guidelines to accommodate as many fans as possible into games.

 

Will away fans be able to attend games?

We expect for a while at least that games will be limited to just home fans. Whilst this is not yet confirmed, the Club believe that encouraging travel across the country is not the right thing to do at present.

 

What if you have more Season Card Holders than what the revised, temporary capacity allows for?

We are confident that the vast majority, if not all Season Card Holders, who wish and are able to attend games will be able to do so.

 

Will I be able to sit in my normal seat?

For now, at least, we want to carefully manage expectations. Owing to the requirements to ensure as much social distancing as possible the seating for each fixture will need to be carefully planned.

As a result, we will be asking fans to be flexible – many fans will, unfortunately, not be able to sit in their own seat. We will be placing emphasis on families sitting together – this also extends to Season Card Holders who have purchased their Season Cards together.

Unfortunately owing to a large amount of administration required with this temporary process the Club will not be able to merge groups together unless they purchased under one group booking.

The Club will issue further guidelines and processes as we near the start of the season and the return of crowds we hope from October.

 

Can I sit with my usual friends?

Where Season Cards have been purchased together we will do everything possible to ensure groups are not separated.

However, where Season Cards have been purchased separately from friends/family we will allocate seats as best as possible with the objective of operating with the largest capacity possible within the guidelines.

 

What if I can’t/don’t want to attend a fixture when crowds return?

We are working with the EFL to understand the potential of providing streaming access to Season Card Holders when attendance at a fixture is not possible.

 

Will the catering outlets/bars be open?

We are working through the guidelines with our concession Catering Partner, British Event Catering, to ensure we provide the best possible experience for fans whilst closely following guidelines and restrictions.

Nearer the return to crowds we will update fans on the availability and workings of these areas.

 

As a non-Season Card Holder when will I be able to attend games?

As Government guidelines are removed, or at least reduced, we very much look forward to welcoming back Orient fans to purchase tickets for matches.

 

How will streaming work?

A streaming free access code will be provided to ALL 2020/21 Season Card holders for all home league games where attendance is not possible under government guidelines.

In the coming weeks, we will announce further details of the enhancements made to our streaming service. We will also be provided simple guides for fans to follow to enable easy sign-up / access and viewing.

 

Will streaming packages be available on a game by game basis?

We will soon be able to announce details of our streaming by-game package. This will allow non-Season Card holders to watch matches from the comfort of their home via their mobile/tablet or laptop device.

Additionally, our popular overseas package for streaming will be made available once again this season.

 

Will hospitality be available when the Breyer Group Stadium reopens?

We expect to be able to offer hospitality packages in-line with the return of fans. Naturally, availability will be very limited, further details will be announced in due-course.
