The club can confirm that former O’s midfielder Alex Lawless has joined the Leyton Orient academy coaching staff.

The 35-year-old played 44 times for the O’s in a two-year spell before spending last season at Ebbsfleet. Having enjoyed a playing career spanning two decades, the Welshman now turns to coaching.

“I’m delighted to be back. I’m focused on developing the youth,” said Lawless.

“I was keen on everything the club is about. To be involved with the academy is a really exciting challenge.”

The U18’s start their season this weekend, hosting Southend United. This game will be behind closed doors, meaning supporters will not be allowed to attend the fixture.
