The event, being run in partnership with our charity partner Mind, sees Martin join Mind’s Chief Executive to give O’s fans a real insight into Martin’s own experiences of mental health problems, as well as the support Mind can provide to fans during the pandemic.
The event “An Evening with Martin Ling & Mind” takes place on Thursday 26 November and will include a discussion between our Director of Football, Martin Ling, and Paul Farmer, the Chief Executive of Mind.
The evening will start with a discussion that aims to give O’s supporters an insight into Martin’s career, his experiences of mental health problems and what support he found helpful.
The evening will also look at the relationship between football and mental health, advice for fans on coping during lockdown, as well as a Q&A session that O’s supporters will be able to put forward questions for in advance.
Mind was chosen as one of three charities to feature as ‘front of shirt’ sponsors for the 2020/21 season, thanks to the generous support of former O, and current England captain, Harry Kane. Mind’s logo features on the front of our retro ‘braces’ third strip – one of the fastest-selling shirts we’ve ever had.
Mind is the leading mental health charity in the UK and is here to support the one in four of us who will experience a mental health problem, like depression or anxiety, in any given year.
This is the first public event run by Leyton Orient and Mind as part of the season-long partnership and we look forward to working closely together over the rest of the season.
The evening will be broadcast live on the club’s YouTube channel from 6pm.
Start time: 6pm
Event to conclude (approx.): 7pm
