Simon, affectionately known as Loz, joined the Supporter’s Club Committee back in the 1980/81 season, and was a dedicated member – giving so much to the club and those who knew him.
His popularity amongst the supporters stretched far and wide, and Simon also represented the Leyton Orient Supporters Cricket Club – taking 226 wickets in his 188 appearances for the club. Simon went on to become the President for LOSCC, and always kept a keen interest in their progress.
“We shall miss him greatly.”
“He was a warm and engaging personality, an excellent compère and host at our many functions,” said Dave Dodd, Chairman of LOSC. “His loyalty to the Supporters Club, to me personally and to our members and, in turn, to Leyton Orient was unfailing.”
“We thank Simon for his friendship and hard work at LOSC. We shall miss him greatly and send our condolences to Sheldon and Tara and the rest of the family at this sad time.”
Simon’s warmth will be deeply missed – but his passion and love for the club will live on, passed to the next generations.
“Over the 30 years that I have been on the Committee, it’s terrific seeing members who were teenagers, now bringing their children dressed in O’s shirts,” Simon once said.
Rest in peace, Simon, and thank you for everything.
