The former Premier League midfielder has signed a one-year deal, with an option of a second year based on appearances, with the O’s and is Kenny Jackett’s first capture as Orient Manager.
The 36-year-old, who worked under Jackett at Swansea earlier in his career, admitted the Manager was a big attraction.
“Kenny signed me 15-years ago at Swansea, when I was 21. It was a no brainer.”
“I’m delighted. This is a massive Club in the division. It’s a local Club to me and I’m happy to be here.”
Pratley, who can play in the middle of the park and defence, featured 39 times for the Addicks last season in League One.
With over 500 appearances in the professional game, Kenny Jackett has moved to appoint Darren as his new club captain.
“He has got good leaderships skills, not least by being a good player. He is a good athlete. I think he will help us to dominate the midfield. He has experience and leadership and it’s a very good signing for us.”
Our new signing started his professional career at Fulham and made his Premier League debut as an 18-year-old against Charlton.
Pratley spent a season on-loan at Brentford before signing for Kenny Jackett’s Swansea in 2006. He spent five years at the club and achieved two promotions, the first to the Championship and the second to the Premier League.
Following Swansea’s play-off final success, he signed for Premier League side, Bolton Wanderers. Ironically, his first goal for the Trotters came against his previous side.
Pratley spent seven years at the Club and secured a third career promotion, when Bolton returned to the Championship after finishing second in the 2016/17 League One campaign.
He made his return to London in the summer of 2018 and achieved a fourth career promotion, when Charlton beat Sunderland in the 2019 League One play-off final.
