Leyton Orient begin their pre-season with a tough test, as they travel to recently promoted side Dundee.

This will be new Manager Kenny Jackett’s first time in the dug out for Orient, as he looks to build sharpness for his squad.

Speaking ahead of the game, Jackett said: “I’m looking for enthusiasm, organisation, and I’m looking forward to the game. It’s been interesting to me to assesing them – so it’s time to build on that.”

“The first side will play for maybe 60 minutes, before we look to bring the young boys in for the rest. It’s a great experience for them to reach their ultimate ambition, which is to reach the Orient first team.”

Academy players Jephte TangaHarrison Sodje, Daniel Nkrumah, Emmanuel Kwatchey and Shimron Eaton have all joined the first team for the trip, and will hope to feature in the side.

New signing Omar Beckles has joined up with Grenada for international duty and will be unavailble, whilst Adam Thompson continues to step up his recovery from his long term injury.

The new signings, including captain Darren Pratley have been working hard throughout the week, as the team build on last week’s sessions.

The Dees capped off a brilliant season in the Scottish Championship last year by winning promotion, coming out on top 2-1 in both legs over Kilmarnock.

They’re managed by previous played James McPake, who took the reins in 2019, his first job as manager, after spending time coaching in the Academy.

He picked up the Manager of the Year award in the Championship for his efforts with the Dark Blues, and he’ll be hopeful of another good season.

O’s fans will recognise Charlie Adam from his time in English football, who was instrumental in their promotion last season.

Adam, now 35, wanted to finish his career at his boyhood club, and contributed significantly to their promotion season, making the league’s team of the year.
