Leyton Orient welcome to Gillingham this Saturday for a friendly match ahead of next week’s season opener against Salford City. Kick-off is scheduled for 2pm.

The O’s

Orient will be keen to build upon last week’s 2-1 win away at Maidenhead. Skipper, Darren Pratley, bagged his first goal for the O’s and Ruel Sotiriou smashed home the winning goal from the spot – his second of pre-season.

Aaron Drinan will be monitored ahead of Saturday’s match having picked up an injury last weekend. Striker Harry Smith continues to make progress, as he seeks to return from a knee injury. Adam Thompson remains unavailable.

New signing Theo Archibald will join his new teammates for the first time and will be eager to get some minutes ahead of the new campaign.

Kenny Jackett will also be boosted by the return of centre-back Omar Beckles, who will be available once more having competed for Grenada at the Gold Cup the past three weeks. Further to that, those who missed the trip to York Road, due to isolation, have trained this week and will be in contention to feature.

The Gills

Steve Evans’ team come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Millwall. Skipper Kyle Dempsey had fired his team ahead, but Jake Cooper’s late goal pinched a draw for Millwall.

New signing Jamie Cumming played an hour of that match, after completing a loan switch from Chelsea. The goalkeeper spent last year on loan at Stevenage, keeping 16 clean sheets in League Two.

Vadaine Oliver is Gillingham’s major danger man. The striker scored 17 times last year, in Gillingham’s League One campaign.
