Leyton Orient return to League Two action on Tuesday night as the O’s host Harrogate Town at the Breyer Group Stadium (7:45pm KO)

The O’s come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Carlisle, and will be hoping home advantage can help them claim three points against Harrogate Town.

Paul Smyth will miss the match with a hamstring injury. Aaron Drinan is a doubt after struggling against Carlisle United. Adam Thompson continues to make good progress as he returns from an ankle injury sustained against Grimsby Town last season.

Harrogate have enjoyed life in the football league after earning promotion from the National League by beating Notts County in the 2020 Play-Off final at Wembley. Town have been on an impressive rise under the leadership of Simon Weaver. In 2018 the club gained promotion to the National League by beating Brackley Town in the National League North Play-Off final. In their first season in the National League Weaver’s men were the surprise package of the season finishing 6th but ultimately lost to AFC Fylde in the Play-Off eliminator. The following season Town went one step further and won the Play-Offs to earn football league status for the first time in their history. In their debut season in League Two Harrogate avoided the drop with a 17th place finish and will be looking to build on that this campaign.

This summer Harrogate brought in Luke Armstrong from Salford City. The 25-year-old lit up the National League while on loan at Hartlepool United and helped the Pools gain promotion back to the football league. Town have also brought in experienced keeper Mark Oxley from Southend United.

Simon Weaver’s side have had a disrupted start to the season with games cancelled due to COVID but that hasn’t stopped his team securing maximum points from their opening two games against Rochdale and Barrow.

One of the key members of the squad that kept Harrogate Town in the league last season was striker, Jack Muldoon. The 32-year-old joined the Sulphurites ahead of their first season in the National League back in 2018. He scored 31 goals in 84 National League appearances across two seasons for Town as the Yorkshire side gained promotion into the football league. In the clubs debut season in the league Muldoon was Harrogate’s top goal scorer with 14 goals which helped his side retain their football league status.

Another key player for Harrogate this season will be summer signing, Luke Armstrong from Salford City. The striker impressed on-loan at Hartlepool United last season in the National League. The 25-year-old scored 13 goals in 28 league appearances for the Pools including their only goal in the National League Play-Off final against Torquay United which helped see them promoted back to the football league.
