No Space For Hate - Sign the pledge!

access_time 2 months ago

We’re proud to be a safe and welcoming football club.

Our match against Walsall will be a dedicated No Space for Hate fixture, raising awareness of the shared role that we can all play in stopping hate.

This National Hate Crime Awareness, we’re asking every local resident, group and Orient fan to learn more about how we can unite against hate and support victims by signing the No Space for Hate pledge and registering for practical programmes that will empower them to stop hate.

This includes Bystander Intervention training – learning how to interrupt harmful situations in real time and support victims – and Stand By Her training. Stand By Her is a tailored form of Bystander Intervention to teach men how to be effective allies for women, with a focus on street based harassment prevention and challenging problematic behaviours.

Waltham Forest Council’s lead member for Community Safety Cllr Ahsan Khan said:

“We’re really proud of Leyton Orient’s long and illustrious history of being a safe and welcoming place. That the club is providing Waltham Forest Council the platform to promote our Bystander training, through which over 250 residents have already learned how to stop hateful and harmful situations in the community, speaks volumes about the club’s determination to kick hate out of football.”
